Xiaomi may release the Mix Flip

Xiaomi’s «book», «large-format», «horizontally foldable», «phone turns into a tablet», — is now in its third generation, with the recent introduction of the Mix Fold 3, but until now the company has stayed out of the flip-style foldable market, although many of its Chinese rivals have done so. As it turns out, Xiaomi isn’t going to stay away from the foldable market for long. Today, the name Mix Flip was spotted in China’s IMEI database, confirming that such a device with model number 2311BPN23C is ready to be released.

According to a previous rumor, the Mix Flip will be unveiled alongside the Mix Fold 4 next year, in which case the wait is far from over, but at least we now know that Xiaomi is indeed working on a foldable flip-style device. On the other hand, other sources suggest (based on the model number starting with 23) that the Mix Flip will come out before the end of this year.

When opened, the screen looks like any other flip, but the camera island stands out — in this thumbnail it looks a bit like the Pixel’s camera, but in reality it could be quite different. The camera has three sensors, which means there’s a telephoto lens that’s rumored to have a 3x optical zoom.

The phone, unsurprisingly, will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, which should be officially announced next month. Since the Mix Fold 3 is thin and light for a foldable device, it’s possible the Mix Flip will also have those features.
