Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 showed record results in Geekbench

The next-generation Qualcomm flagship processor — Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 — has appeared in a fresh Geekbench benchmark database and has shown a notable performance boost. Judging by the results, the chip has finally approached the capabilities of Apple’s processors and even managed to surpass them in some metrics.
Test Device and Specifications
In the benchmark Geekbench 6.4 a new chipset has been spotted as part of a Xiaomi smartphone codenamed25113PN0EC, which appears to be the standard version of the Xiaomi 17. The test sample received16GB of RAM and ran Android 16.
Geekbench Results
- Single-core test: 3,705 points
- Multicore test: 11,228 points
In comparison, in earlier tests, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 barely broke the 3,000-point bar in single-core mode and around 9,100 in multi-core mode.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5’s performance in single-core mode has been very good.

Compared to competitors
- A19 Pro remains ahead in the single-core test — 4,019 points, but Qualcomm has narrowed the gap considerably.
- In multi-core mode, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (11,228) managed to beat the Apple A19 Pro (11,054) and significantly outperformed last year’s A18 Pro (8,546)
- Samsung Exynos 2600 scored 3,309 / 11,256, which is almost identical to Qualcomm’s results.
- MediaTek Dimensity 9500 scored 3,177 / 9,701, noticeably behind the new Snapdragon.
Why performance increased
Experts attribute the gains to Qualcomm improving the chip’s performance at peak frequencies: up to 4.61GHz was kept longer, and software integration was refined before release.
What’s next
The first Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5-powered devices should be the Xiaomi 17 series, expected by the end of this year. Judging by the test results, the new Android flagships will get one of the most powerful processors on the market.
