Google will add a feature to Gmail to quickly unsubscribe from unwanted emails

Google is planning to introduce a new option to Gmail to make it easier to control subscriptions. The feature, called “Manage Subscriptions,” will allow users to quickly view a list of their subscriptions and unsubscribe from unwanted ones.

According to Chris Doan, Gmail’s chief product officer, a significant number of users struggle with a clogged inbox clogged with promotional offers and newsletters. The proposed tool is designed to simplify the process of clearing unwanted content out of email.

The new functionality will automatically collect information about all of a user’s active subscriptions, categorizing senders based on how often emails are sent. The user will be able to estimate the number of messages received from each sender over a certain period, view the entire history of correspondence with a particular recipient, and unsubscribe.

The feature will be available to all Google personal account holders and Google Workspace subscribers, including individual users. The launch is scheduled for July 13 for the web version, July 14 for Android, and July 21 for iOS. Full deployment could take up to two weeks.
