Samsung’s triple clamshell design has been revealed inside the One UI 8

Samsung briefly mentioned earlier this year that it was working on a triple-folding screen device, and now Android Authority has revealed the first evidence of the phone’s existence inside the One UI 8. Most likely, we’re talking about a model that could be called the Galaxy G Fold.
Samsung’s first confirmation of a foldable screen device has been revealed in One UI 8.

Animation files from the latest version of the OS show a design with two hinges folding outward. Such a mechanism has previously only been demonstrated in Samsung Display prototypes.

As you can see from the animation, the device will consist of three parts: the left panel houses the triple-camera module, the middle panel houses the external display with front-facing camera, and the right panel likely serves only as a cover, as it doesn’t show any bezels or signs of a display. This configuration differs from the HUAWEI Mate X’s approach, which uses an S-shaped layout with one hinge pointing inward and the other outward.

One of the animations warns you to fold the empty panel first, not the one with the cameras on it. This could be because the screen can be damaged due to the protruding lenses if folded incorrectly. The footage also shows a side bezel with buttons that are recessed into the body.
In the firmware code, Samsung doesn’t use the Galaxy G Fold name, but instead applies the Multifold 7 designation, possibly a temporary codename.

It is possible that the company will unveil the new product as early as July 9 at the Galaxy Unpacked presentation along with the Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Flip7 and other new products.
