The OnePlus Ace 5 lineup has been updated with two new models – Racing and Ultra

OnePlus is expanding its Ace 5 series of smartphones, adding two new devices – the Ace 5 Ultra and Ace 5 Racing – to the already released Ace 5 and Ace 5 Pro models. While the new devices differ significantly in features and design, they retain the key idea behind the lineup: flagship performance at a more affordable price point.

Ace 5 Ultra: power in every element

The name Ultra literally translates to “ultimative,” and the model truly lives up to its name. This is OnePlus’ most powerful smartphone based on Mediatek’s Dimensity 9400+ chip. The device features a 6.83-inch OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a resolution just above Full HD+.

The smartphone is available with 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage – totaling five different configurations for different budgets.

The cameras here are modest by flagship standards: a 50 MP main module with autofocus, optical stabilization and f/1.8 aperture, and an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a 112-degree field of view. The front camera is the standard 16 MP in the screen cutout.

A separate button on the side lets you launch pre-selected apps like a flashlight, alarm clock, night mode, or the built-in AI translator. The new G1 chip is responsible for connection stability, increasing Wi-Fi speed and reliability by 33% over the competition. A 7,300-square-millimeter evaporation chamber is used for cooling.

The battery has a capacity of 6,700 mAh, supports 100W wired charging and a battery bypass feature when charging. Just 10 minutes on a charge provides up to 3 hours of gameplay, and a full cycle in 39 minutes.

The smartphone ships in China with ColorOS 15 firmware and built-in AI assistant (available locally only). The body colors are blue, black, and silver (with the original striped texture). The base version (12/256GB) is priced at 2,499 yuan, while the maximum version (16GB / 1TB) is priced at 3,799 yuan.

Ace 5 Racing: more battery, less price

The second model, the Ace 5 Racing, is built on a slightly simplified Dimensity 9400e chip. Storage capacities are the same as the Ultra, except there’s no 1TB version.

The cameras here are simpler, with a 50 MP main camera and a 2 MP monochrome sensor. The front camera remains the same at 16 MP. The screen is a 6.77-inch AMOLED with Full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz.

Although this version doesn’t have the signature G1 chip, the smartphone has an elaborate cooling system with a 7,000-square-millimeter evaporation chamber – almost like the older model.

The main advantage of the Ace 5 Racing is its 7,100 mAh battery, the most capacious among OnePlus smartphones. It supports 80W charging and battery bypass. It’s also got some AI features like upscaling video to 4K and removing objects from photos.

Ace 5 Racing runs on ColorOS 15 and is available in white, black, and mint green. Pricing starts at 1,799 yuan for the 12/256GB version.
