The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake could be released as early as next week

It looks like Bethesda’s long-awaited remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is about to be officially unveiled. Last week, Giant Bomb journalist Geoff Grubb said that according to his sources, the game should “come out suddenly any time this month”. Now, in a new episode of his Game Mess Mornings podcast, he’s clarified that the release is scheduled for next week.

“Let’s update on the Oblivion remake and the surprise release,” Grubb said. “We said last week that the game could come out at any time. Now I can be more specific – it’s the week of April 21. So basically the last week of the month.” Grubb said he received “separate confirmation” of that information from another source, lending credence to the rumor.

It’s known that the remake is being developed by Virtuos Studios – the same studio that is working on Konami’s Metal Gear Solid 3 remake. Virtuos has also been involved in the Call of Duty, Tomb Raider, Dark Souls, Uncharted and Horizon series.

The remake is being developed by Virtuos, the same studio that is working on Konami’s Metal Gear Solid 3 remake.

According to MP1ST, the Oblivion remake is built entirely on the Unreal Engine 5 engine and includes a redesign of six key game systems: stamina, stealth, block, archery, hit animations and the HUD interface.

The block system is rumored to be inspired by Souls-like games, and stealth icons now have clearer visual designations to add convenience to stealth play.
