Gemini AI is coming soon to the Galaxy Watch smartwatch

After replacing Google Assistant with Gemini on smartphones and tablets, Google is preparing to bring the new AI to other devices – including smartwatches running Wear OS. That means Galaxy Watch users will soon get an updated voice assistant, too.”
Confirmation via app code
Google has already officially announced plans to migrate Wear OS devices to Gemini, but has not yet given a specific timeline. However, a new version of the Assistant app for Wear OS (1.18.x) was found to contain references to Gemini in the code. In particular, there are the following lines:
“Gemini is now on your watch.””Speak naturally and get more with a personalized AI assistant.””To activate, hold down the side button or say «Okay, Google»”
How Gemini will work on the Galaxy Watch
Users will be able to launch Gemini on the watch via a side button or voice command. Functionally, it already supports setting alarms, timers, and sending messages – similar to how it works with Google Assistant.
Will there be additional features?
It’s not yet clear whether Gemini’s more advanced features – like interacting with Gmail, Google Drive, Google Photos, Google Home, Spotify and YouTube Music – will also appear on the watch. Samsung smartphones running One UI 7.0 already offer integration with Samsung Calendar, Notes and Reminder – and the hope is that these features will make their way to the Galaxy Watch as well.
Some of these features are already available on Samsung’s One UI 7.0 smartphones.
When to expect the launch
It’s possible Google is saving the Gemini release for Wear OS for the launch of the next Pixel Watch. If that’s the case, an update for the Galaxy Watch could arrive around the same time.
