Foldable iPhone will get a hinge made of liquid metal

The foldable iPhone has long been a urban legend, but fresh information is heating up interest again. The latest leaks concern the hinge, which, according to a reliable Weibo insider, will be made of liquid metal.
Rumors of liquid metal (or «amorphous alloy») for a foldable iPhone were previously reported by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The main advantage of this material is high strength. According to the insider, amorphous alloy is 2.5 times stronger than titanium, making it the ideal hinge solution.

- Resistant to bending, warping and pressure, which will increase the lifespan of the foldable iPhone.
- Reduces or eliminates display creasing, which remains one of the major problems with flexible screens.
- Better support for the flexible OLED matrix, which will increase its resistance to pressure and bending.
Apple is already working with screen suppliers to refine the no visible folds technology, and if the company does use liquid metal, the foldable iPhone could be the most durable device in its class.
