Poco F7 Ultra flagship with top chipset unveiled

Poco F7 Ultra flagship with top chipset unveiled

Today, Poco announced its first “Ultra” series smartphone, the Poco F7 Ultra. It’s the brand’s first flagship to get the actual Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, rather than last year’s flagship processor as it was before.

The F7 Ultra is two generations more powerful than the Poco F6 Pro, which ran on Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Interestingly, there’s a gap in the lineup, with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip going to the Poco F7 Pro, which will be unveiled separately.

Performance: Snapdragon 8 Elite and VisionBoost D7

Compared to the 8 Gen 3, the new processor got a 45% faster CPU and 40% more powerful GPU. But Poco has gone further and added a detached VisionBoost D7 graphics chip to the F7 Ultra that can increase resolution, generate extra frames, and improve HDR in games, YouTube, and Netflix.

So the F7 Ultra has a detached VisionBoost D7 graphics chip that can increase resolution, generate extra frames, and improve HDR in games, YouTube, and Netflix.

In gaming, this duo delivers impressive results. Genshin Impact at 2K Super Resolution runs at 120 fps with no sags even after an hour of play. The LiquidCool Technology 4.0 cooling system with two-channel design and a massive 5400mm² evaporation chamber is responsible for stability, reducing chipset temperatures by 3°C.

Autonomy: fast charging and battery protection

The 5300 mAh battery is controlled by a special Surge G1 chip, and charging is the responsibility of the Surge P3. 120W wired charging replenishes up to 100% charge in 34 minutes, while 50W wireless lets you charge your smartphone wirelessly.

Thanks to optimization, even after 1600 charging cycles, the battery will retain at least 80% capacity.

Cameras: Poco’s most advanced solution

The Poco F7 Ultra camera system is the most powerful in the brand’s history.

The main camera is a 50 MP Light Fusion 800 (1/1.55″, f/1.6, OIS). The sensor supports virtual 35mm and 48mm focal lengths.

The sensor supports virtual focal lengths of 35mm and 48mm.

The 50 MP telephoto module has a “floating” lens with a 60 mm (2.5x) focal length and the ability to switch to 120 mm (5x). It also supports OIS and macro shooting from 10cm.

A 32 MP ultra-wide camera with 120° viewing angle completes the trio, while a 32 MP front camera is responsible for quality selfies.

Display: 120Hz, 3200 nits and Poco Shield Glass protection

The F7 Ultra features a 6.67-inch OLED display with 1440×3200 resolution and 12-bit color reproduction. Brightness reaches 1800 nits in normal mode and 3200 nits in peak mode.

The refresh rate is 120Hz and the PWM dimming frequency is 3840Hz with 16,000 brightness levels. Touch response ranges from 480Hz to 2560Hz, and input processing is enhanced by VisionBoost D7.

The Poco Shield Glass protects the display, and the smartphone itself is IP68 – a first for the F series.

Additional Features

The F7 Ultra features ultrasonic fingerprint scanner (as opposed to optical in the F6 Pro), NFC, infrared port, dual-band GPS and stereo speakers.

The case is 8.4mm thick and weighs 212g, available in two colors: black and branded yellow.
