The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake will be released earlier than expected

Bethesda is preparing the long-awaited remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and it looks like the release is coming sooner than expected. The first rumors about the project appeared back in 2023, when the game was mentioned by one of the developers, and then it was covered in leaked court documents. Now insiders are reporting that an official announcement will take place in the coming weeks, with the game’s release possible as early as spring 2025.

The Oblivion remake is being developed by Virtuos Studios, one of the largest outsourced developers founded in 2004. The company is known for having worked on franchises such as Call of Duty, Tomb Raider, Dark Souls, BioShock, Battlefield, Uncharted and Horizon. In addition, it is Virtuos that is helping Konami with the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3.

What changes are in store for Oblivion?
The new version of Oblivion is being developed on Unreal Engine 5 and includes a redesign of six key game mechanics:
- Stamina – The exhaustion system has been changed so that players are less likely to pass out from stamina depletion.
- Secrecy – indicators are now illuminated for easy tracking detection.
- Blocking – inspired by Souls-like game mechanics, making defense more tactical.
- Archery – redesigned for convenience in both first-person and third-person modes.
- Hit Animations – improved for more realistic damage perception.
- HUD (HUD) – made clearer and visually modern.
