CES 2025: Bosch shows cradle with baby health monitoring functions

At CES 2025, Bosch unveiled a revolutionary artificial intelligence-enabled smart cradle that can track everything that anxious parents concerned about their infant’s well-being might demand. While it’s still unclear when the device, called Revol, will become available on the market, it can track an impressive amount of data.

.
At first glance, the Revol resembles other smart cradles, such as the popular Snoo. It has mesh walls and can lull a sleeping baby with automatic movements. However, unlike the Snoo, which swings horizontally, the Revol moves vertically: the mattress rises and falls smoothly, like a small elevator.
Innovative Sensors and Health Monitoring
The cradle’s main strength is hidden in its built-in infant monitor, which provides a live video feed to the caregiver’s phone. Inside the arm that extends above the cradle are a series of sensors that monitor both the environment and what’s going on inside.

Revol uses a millimeter-wave sensor to accurately measure a baby’s heart rate and breathing. This data is sent to an app on the phone where parents can monitor the baby in real time and receive reports on his or her health. There are also sensors that monitor the environment, including temperature, humidity and air quality using a particle counter.

AI features for increased safety
Since it’s 2025 and almost every product should have an artificial intelligence component, Revol uses computer vision to detect if dangerous objects, such as a blanket or soft toy, are near a child’s face. In case of danger, the device sends a notification to parents, as the American Academy of Pediatrics warns against placing soft objects in the sleep area of infants.

will appear.
Despite the impressive list of features, parents shouldn’t expect the Revol to become available anytime soon. A spokesperson for Bosch said the cradle will be the first to launch in the Chinese market, and won’t be available in the U.S. until 2026 at the earliest, as local laws and regulations must be met.
The price of the device hasn’t been announced yet, but Bosch expects it to be around $1200. That may seem like a high cost, but the company also plans to offer additional accessories that will turn the bassinet into a pediatric table and a writing desk, giving parents and children more ways to use the device.
Closure
The Revol cradle from Bosch could be a revolution in the baby market, offering innovative features and exceptional attention to infant health. But its market launch is still a long way off, and it remains to be seen whether high safety and regulatory requirements will slow it down.
