Nintendo Switch: the best Lego games

It’s impossible to talk about the best Nintendo Switch games without mentioning at least one Lego game. These games have turned all the major franchises, from superheroes to fantasy characters, into some of the most enjoyable games for kids and adults alike. And it’s even better to play them together, as almost all of them are best suited for local multiplayer. There are currently more than a dozen Lego games available on Nintendo Switch, and there’s plenty to choose from.
If you plan to play these games with a friend or family member, make sure you have another controller at the ready.

LEGO Horizon Adventures

No one expected Lego and Horizon to cross paths in any way. But when it did, many people realized just how cool a collab like this was. Turning all those cool dinosaur robots into Lego figures just works perfectly, as does translating the first game’s story into a lighter, more adventure-friendly experience.
Lego Horizon Adventures — is a shorter Lego game than most of the others, but still very fun and cute — especially in co-op mode. The battles are satisfying, the story moments are fun, and there are plenty of collectibles and items to upgrade and unlock. None of the puzzles are overly challenging, which may disappoint more experienced gamers, but for kids it’s a great way to engage with these two worlds – Lego and Horizon.

LEGO City Undercover

Forget Grand Theft Auto — if you’re looking for open-world entertainment, Lego City Undercover is hard to beat. While it doesn’t have the “adult” plot of GTA 5, nor does it have the violence, this family-friendly game still manages to keep everyone entertained thanks to an open world filled with cars, collectibles and bumbling hijackers.
Unlike most Lego games, City Undercover can only be played by two players. However, it makes up for the small number of players with some of the coolest action you’ll ever see in a Lego video game. The game also features classic Lego humor, including quirky movie references and unusual character names such as Chase McCain and Rex Fury.

LEGO Builder’s Journey

Unlike the other Lego games we’ve written about or will write about next, Builder’s Journey — is not an action-adventure game, but a puzzle game. You’ll have to interact with small, incredibly realistic Lego locations to create a path for your little character. The game has incredibly soothing music, and solving many of the puzzles takes no rush. Each new chapter has a new mechanic or trick to learn, so you’ll always have to think hard first to make the best use of the available parts to get to the end. While the story mode can be completed fairly quickly, there’s also a creative mode that lets you create your own locations and puzzles.
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2

There are many Marvel-themed Lego games, but Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 — is the best of them all. The story is a continuation of the first installment, but you don’t have to go through it to play this one. The basic idea is that you have to gather all your favorite heroes from all universes to defeat the evil Kang. The game is similar to all other similar Lego games — lots of light action, item collecting and puzzles — but with the unique abilities of multiple superheroes. In addition, this game features a competitive superhero battle mode for up to four players, which makes the game even more exciting.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

“Star Wars” was one of the first movies to get a Lego adaptation, and really took the whole Lego genre to a new level. After nearly every movie has been adapted in individual games or custom sets, The Skywalker Saga finally lets you experience all nine major movies in one package. You can choose which trilogy to start with, and they’ve all been updated with easier gameplay and detailed central worlds to explore. This is probably the biggest Lego game ever released, with 45 main levels to complete. If you plan on completing all the missions and collecting all the hidden geocaches, then get ready for a great adventure.

LEGO DC Super-Villains

If you prefer to get into trouble in your spare time, you’ll love everything Lego DC Super-Villains has to offer. You’ll embark on a journey to become the world’s best super-villain, “pulling mischievous pranks and wreaking havoc” along the way. The amusing story is set in a world where the Justice League is absent, and a motley group of characters called the Justice Syndicate are responsible for keeping the world safe. It’s up to you and your friends to find out what this group is up to and become the greatest supervillains Earth has ever seen.
LEGO Jurassic World

Dive into the prehistoric era with Lego Jurassic World. Relive the storylines of four classic movies — “Jurassic Park,” “Jurassic Park: The Lost World,” “Jurassic Park III” and “Jurassic World” — or take control of a dinosaur and destroy a city. The game features dozens of popular dinosaur species, including the iconic Tyrex, the lovable Triceratops and the nimble Raptor.
Are the 20 available dinosaurs not enough? Lego Jurassic World lets you create your own dinosaur by customizing its DNA. Once you’ve assembled the dinosaur of your dreams, you can take it to explore the islands of Nublar and Sorna.
LEGO Harry Potter Collection

Follow the story of Harry Potter as he tries to stop Lord Voldemort from taking over the Wizarding World. The Lego Harry Potter Collection includes all episodes from years 1-7 — all remastered to deliver incredible graphics on Nintendo Switch. It may be a little under-done, but few other games can offer you so much “Potter” content in one place.
Harry, Ron and Hermione learn new spells, create powerful potions and take tedious potions classes as they make their way around Hogwarts and try to stop the most powerful wizard in history. Best of all, the game can be played with two people.
However, it’s a great way to play the game.
The LEGO Ninjago Movie Video Game

The Lego Ninjago Movie Video Game, released in 2017, is starting to get tired of newer games, but it’s still one of the best Ninjago games out there. If you ignore the horribly uncreative title, there’s a lot to like about this Lego adaptation. Up to four players can engage in co-op missions as they battle Lord Garmadon and his vicious army of sharks. Running up walls and jumping from heights make this one of the most dynamic Lego games on the market, and eight unique locations to explore — that’s more than enough content to keep you interested.
The game has a lot to offer.
