A series based on the Dead Cells game has been announced

After “years of requests,” Motion Twin Studios has announced the Dead Cells series. It was created by the French studio Bobbypills, which created the animated trailers for the game, and co-produced by the streaming anime service Animation Digital Network.

The series will consist of 10 episodes of approximately 7 minutes each. It will be released next year in France, and then will be available worldwide.

“The show is set (surprise, surprise) on a cursed island afflicted by a strange plague,” says the description accompanying the trailer, which you can watch below.

After the island’s foolish king develops a cure that ends up turning the population into monstrous creatures, prophecies begin to appear depicting a fiery hero who will kill the mad king.

It just so happens that this beheaded hero is real, but saving the kingdom is not in his plans, and he just wants to be left alone. Well, guess who won’t be left alone…

Motion Twin recently announced that Dead Cells sales have exceeded 10 million since its early access release in 2017.

Evil Empire, the affiliated studio created to develop DLC for the game, also said the game will be supplemented with new content until at least the end of 2024.
