Patent images show Xiaomi’s “triple” clamshell design

China’s National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) has registered Xiaomi’s patent application, which describes a foldable smartphone with a display divided into three parts. The attached images show what the popular brand’s new model might look like.
The document, dated September 3, illustrates a possible concept for a dual-hinged clamshell. The renders show the device with a flat-edged body and a triple main camera with the sensors arranged horizontally. Judging by the sketches, two of the three display segments will be foldable, as in conventional clamshells, while the third will remain on the outside.
The technical specifications of the smartphone are not mentioned in the patent, as it focuses solely on the design of the device. The premiere date and price of the new Xiaomi clamshell also remain unknown, and the company itself hasn’t made any official announcements yet.
