Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 may get DeX support

Samsung DeX allows you to turn Galaxy phones and tablets into desktops. A number of flagship phones over the past five years have supported this feature, with the Flip series lacking it. According to SamMobile, that’s about to change, and the upcoming Z Flip5 will finally get the feature, making it the smallest DeX-enabled device.

The source doesn’t give any details about the feature or whether older flip5 models will get the feature through a software update. We can assume it will work in all the ways Samsung DeX works with current devices: via a compatible HDMI cable or wirelessly to TVs and monitors that support Miracast. On a PC, you’ll only need a USB cable, as long as the OS — Windows 10 or Windows 11.

Another uncertainty has to do with Dex Pad and Dex Station compatibility. While current and likely future Flip phones can physically connect to the USB-C port, they still need software support. Nevertheless, the ability to use the Z Flip on a larger screen to work with productivity apps would be another way to make the foldable phone more appealing to a wider audience.
