Apple M3: leaked specifications

Mark Gurman reported that Apple is ramping up testing of the M3 chip. At least one version of the new platform has been spotted with a 12-core CPU, an 18-core GPU, and 36GB of RAM. Gurman believes Macs with the new 3nm chip will start arriving in late 2023 or early 2024.
The new processor will stick with six performance cores, while the other six will be energy efficient. The increase in performance will be the same as the M2 generation relative to the M1, which will be enough to boost demand. Gurman recalled that last quarter, Mac sales fell 31%, falling short of analysts’ expectations.

The journalist also speculated that the Apple M3 Pro and M3 Max will have similar gains (over the M1 and M2 series), with the latter having a 14-core processor, 40-core GPU, while the M3 Ultra could double everything to an incredible 80-core graphics unit. None of this has been confirmed, and we expect to learn more during WWDC next month.
