Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is used to film the sailing competition at the Olympics

Paris is packed with fans coming to watch the Olympics live, but many more people are watching from home, and Samsung is helping them get as close to the action as possible.

Fans can follow the sailing events taking place in the waters near Marseille right now. Samsung and the organizers are using the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphone to broadcast live.

Smartphones have been mounted on sailing boats, as well as attached to the shoulder of kitesurfing and windsurfing competitors. The phones were also mounted on buoys to provide additional viewing angles.

Making it work was no easy task, as these phones were in terrible conditions for a digital gadget – they had to withstand saltwater splashes and exposure to the blazing sun all day long. The organizers also had to set up additional relay towers to ensure that the phones’ 5G modems could reliably connect and provide a stable live stream.
