Google has launched a Fitbit Ace LTE smart watch for kids with a gaming accent

Google has unveiled the new Fitbit Ace LTE smart watch for kids, which is based on the Wear OS platform. The watch is designed to encourage children aged 7 and up to adopt a healthy lifestyle in a playful way and has useful features for parents.

The Fitbit Ace LTE’s specs are similar to the Pixel Watch 2 released by Google in 2023. They’re powered by a Snapdragon W5/Qualcomm 5100, have 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, as well as a microphone, water protection (5 ATM), and an AMOLED screen.

Fitbit Ace LTE supports 4G LTE, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and GPS. They feature a simplified version of the Pixel Watch 2’s optical sensor, as well as an accelerometer, gyroscope, altimeter, magnetometer, and ambient light sensor. Google has removed health sensors that kids don’t need, such as the ECG, which has an age limit of 22 years and older.

In place of the usual apps, the watch has games that encourage kids to be physically active. There’s also a Tamagotchi-like character, Eejie, for whom you can buy rooms, clothes and other accessories using special “tickets” earned from playing active games on the watch.

The School Time feature allows adults to limit gaming during certain hours. Fitbit Ace LTE also allows kids to text and call their parents. Adults can receive and send messages and track progress toward monthly goals using the Fitbit Ace app, available for Android and iOS. The watch supports up to 20 approved contacts, and parents can track their kids’ location, with data deleted after 24 hours.

The Fitbit Ace LTE will be available for purchase starting June 5 for $230 ($20 530 RUB).
