These 10 new artificial intelligence features are coming to iOS 18

A host of new artificial intelligence features will be coming to iOS 18 and macOS 15, such as auto-generated emoji, suggested responses to emails and messages, and more, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports.

Some new artificial intelligence features are coming to iOS 18 and macOS 15.

A significant portion of Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2024) is expected to be devoted to artificial intelligence features. In his latest dispatch «Power On» Gurman revealed that Apple’s AI strategy is focused on providing practical tools for everyday users, as well as new features for core apps such as Safari, Photos and Notes. In all likelihood, Apple will use AI to create the following new features:

• Retouching photos;
• Transcription of voice memos;
• Suggested responses to emails and messages;
• Automatic emoji generation based on the content of the user’s messages, allowing you to create new emoji for any occasion, in addition to the existing catalog;
• Improved web search in Safari;
• Faster and more reliable search in Spotlight;
• Faster and more natural interaction with Siri;
• A more advanced version of Siri developed for Apple Watch, optimized for tasks «on the go»;
• Smart viewing of missed notifications and individual messages, web pages, news articles, documents, notes and more;
• Developer tools in Xcode;

Artificial intelligence features that don’t require a lot of computing power will run entirely on the device, while more demanding tools will run via the cloud. Apple will apparently tout the privacy benefits of this plan. Apple is reportedly considering selling many of its new artificial intelligence tools as «pre-release» at least in beta versions of iOS 18 before its official launch in September, to make it clear that the technology isn’t yet complete.
