Google is developing a security feature for Android 15

Google is developing a new security feature designed specifically for Android. According to developers, the option will protect users from scam apps that can intercept two-factor authorization codes. The feature is expected in Android 15, and it has already sparked interest from tech bloggers.
The feature is expected to be available in Android 15.

It should be clarified that the new feature will be directly related to the RECEIVE_SENSITIVE_NOTIFICATIONS system permission, it will restrict the operation of the notification service that uses the NotificationListenerService API, allowing apps to read incoming messages and perform actions. Speaking of which, some users already grant permission to access notifications in their system settings, but Google plans to place restrictions on the service to prevent attackers from being able to access sensitive data.

In addition to the aforementioned, a new OTP_REDACTION flag was found in the Android 14 source code, and it’s expected to restrict reading two-factor authorization codes for all but “trusted” apps. This combination with the existing feature of hiding two-factor authorization notifications on the lock screen will make Android devices more secure from authorization data interception.
