Mega 95, the handheld SEGA Mega Drive, has been announced

Handheld consoles have become a trend in recent years. Many companies, including ASUS, are looking to replicate the success of Valve and its Steam Deck. And now even retro devices are being brought to the portable format.
Hyperkin has announced the Mega 95 — a pocket-sized version of the legendary Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. The device features a five-inch display that supports 4:3 and 16:9 modes, as well as a docking station for connecting to a TV. It is claimed that the console can work autonomously for up to 10 hours. Its form factor replicates the gamepad of the original console, and it’s compatible with original cartridges.
The price of the Mega 95 hasn’t been announced yet, but Hyperkin’s portable version of the SNES cost around $120 (10 850 rubles), so we can expect about the same price tag.
Although games for the classic console can be easily emulated on any smartphone, the Mega 95 will definitely appeal to fans of the original platform, which was once home to many hit and simply great games.
