Apple has pulled the plug on the Flipper Zero feature

Apple blocked Bluetooth attacks on the iPhone with the Flipper Zero hacking multitool. The attacks caused a barrage of pop-ups, making it difficult to use the smartphone and causing it to freeze and shut down. The bug is no longer present in iOS 17.2.

Flipper Zero was disabling iPhones running iOS 17 and earlier versions of the platform. Third-party firmware Flipper Xtreme allowed Flipper Zero’s Bluetooth radio module to send a large number of requests to connect peripherals. The attacks didn’t harm the smartphone, but made it difficult to use other features. Prior to the release of iOS 17.2, the only way to stop the attacks was to completely disable Bluetooth on the iPhone. Apple was able to solve the problem without drastic measures in iOS 17.2.
