Interest in protecting children from fraudsters in Russia has doubled – Yandex

Over the past year, Russians have become twice as interested in the topic of protecting children from scammers. According to Yandex analysts, in July 2025 the number of such requests in search was almost twice as high as a year before.
The increase in interest began in January and peaked in March, when the share of queries mentioning children and scammers was 110% higher than in March 2024. The increased attention continued in July, with 75% more queries than in the same period a year ago.

What questions users are asking
About half of all queries are related to describing specific situations that happened to children or their parents. Examples include “a child transferred money from his mother’s card to scammers” or “what happens if a code was sent to a child’s phone and he reported it?
General questions about fraud schemes and protection methods are also popular: “can fraudsters take out a loan on a 14-year-old child?”, “how to protect a child’s number from fraudsters?” or “how to protect a child’s card from fraudsters.
The leaders in terms of interest are Moscow, Chelyabinsk and Rostov-on-Don
Moscow has the highest interest in the topic among cities with millions of inhabitants – 60% higher than the average level in large cities. In Chelyabinsk, the figure is 20% higher than the average, and in Rostov-on-Don – 10%.
