Fujifilm has unveiled the new Instax mini LiPlay+ instant camera, which is an updated version of the original Instax mini LiPlay model released back in 2019. In six years, the camera has received a number of notable improvements and new features.

The main innovation — the introduction of a second camera on the back for taking selfies. It has a wide-angle lens and complements the main front camera. You can also combine images from both cameras to create layered photos with a unique visual effect.

The design of the camera remains largely unchanged, but the display on the back is now larger, making it easier to frame and more accurate before printing. Along with the camera, Fujifilm has released a new type of film — Soft Glitter, which is sold in cassettes of 10 shots and features soft hues and gold accents that create a slight shimmer around the edges of the frame. A single pack costs — about $18.

The company has also redesigned the LiPlay+ mobile app, adding a host of new features. Users can now attach short audio recordings to their photos. Such multimedia photos can be viewed by scanning a QR code on the printed frame — the audio plays through a smartphone or other device. The app also allows you to edit images before printing.

The Fujifilm Instax mini LiPlay+ will go on sale by the end of the month for $235. The camera will be available in two colors — blue and beige. While the original LiPlay didn’t make the list of best instant cameras, Fujifilm continues to reaffirm its status as a leader in the category.
