Apple launches Creator Studio, a subscription service for professional creative apps

Today Apple unveiled a new suite of apps called Creator Studio. It’s a subscription that, for a flat monthly or annual fee, gives you access to a number of professional creative tools at once.

Creator Studio includes Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, and Pixelmator Pro for Mac and iPad, and Motion, Compressor, and MainStage for Mac. Subscribers also get smart features and premium content in Keynote, Pages, and Numbers, with more features coming later in Freeform on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

The subscription costs $12.99 per month or $129 per year. A one-month free trial is available for new users. For college students and teachers, Apple is offering significantly reduced pricing — $2.99 per month or $29.99 per year. Creator Studio subscriptions will be available starting Jan.

Apple’s Senior Vice President of Internet Services and Software, Eddy Cue, commented on the launch of the new suite:
