iPad Pro with M5 chip will be released in the fall of 2025

Apple plans to release updated iPad Pro models with the new M5 processor this fall. According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, the company’s premium tablets will be the first devices to get the chip.

New chip – no new design

The previous iPad Pro model came out in May 2024 and was Apple’s first device with an OLED display and M4 chip. The 2025 update will come 17 months later – with a focus on performance rather than looks.

From a design perspective, no changes are expected: the body will remain as thin as the 2024 version, and the OLED display will remain the same. The main change will be the switch to the M5 processor, which is built using TSMC’s advanced 3nm process and should deliver performance and power efficiency gains.

Thin frames – but not this year

Apple is also working on new display technology that will reduce the bezels around the iPad Pro’s screen even further. However, it’s still unclear whether it will be ready to launch models with the M5 chip in 2025.

And it’s not yet clear if it will be ready to launch models with the M5 chip in 2025.
