Google has canceled the development of the Pixel Tablet 2, not the Tablet 3

Google has decided to cancel development of the Pixel Tablet 2, the second generation of Pixel tablets. The news comes as a disappointment to fans of the brand who were expecting an update to the first version of the device with a more powerful processor, an improved camera and an official keyboard for increased productivity.
Pixel Tablet 3 confusion
Rumors had previously surfaced that the Pixel Tablet 3 was out of development, but a Google source confirmed that it was the Pixel Tablet 2 that was in question. The device, codenamed «kiyomi» was canceled due to financial risks. According to leaks, it was supposed to be released in 2025 based on the Tensor G4 chip. Meanwhile, the Pixel Tablet 3 with a Tensor G6 chip is not scheduled until 2027, making it unlikely to be actively developed at the current stage.

Why did Google cancel the Pixel Tablet 2?”
Google was working on two versions of the Pixel Tablet 2, one with Wi-Fi and one with 5G support, and was also planning an official keyboard with touchpad for the tablet. However, the company decided to discontinue the project for fear of losses. Perhaps this is a signal that Google is abandoning Pixel tablets altogether. Nevertheless, there’s a chance that the Pixel Tablet 3 will still hit the market and will be aimed at power users.
