SpaceX unveiled Starlink V3 satellites with gigabit internet speeds

The new third-generation Starlink satellites will provide gigabit connection speeds and will be the most powerful in the history of the SpaceX program. After the successful completion of Starship’s 11th flight test, SpaceX announced the launch of the next phase of the Starlink project, the V3 version. This generation of satellites is significantly larger and more productive than previous ones and will offer users gigabit internet through the orbital network for the first time. Satellites of this generation will be the first to offer users gigabit internet through the orbital network. According to Starlink, each V3 satellite is designed to deliver up to 60 terabits per second – more than 20 times the capacity of previous V2 Mini launches on a Falcon 9 rocket. This boost will increase the speed and stability of connectivity for users in remote areas without traditional communications infrastructure. It is not yet known when the first launches of the new series will begin. Each satellite weighs more than 1,800 kilograms, so SpaceX will have to finalize a scheme to get them into orbit. At this point, it’s unclear when the first launches of the new series will begin. Now, a Starlink subscription costs $165 a month and offers an average download speed of about 127 Mbps. The company hasn’t yet disclosed whether the cost will change when it moves to V3. The company has not yet disclosed whether the cost will change when it moves to V3. Starlink remains one of the few solutions to bring internet to hard-to-reach areas. However, the project still raises questions over its impact on the night sky – the problem of satellite glare and reflections remains unresolved. SpaceX has not officially commented on the timeline for putting V3 into orbit.
