Leaked: Xiaomi 16 will get a 7000 mAh battery and improved cameras

Insider Yogesh Brar has revealed key specs of the upcoming smartphone Xiaomi 16, confirming rumors of major changes from last year’s Xiaomi 15.
New Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset
The smartphone is expected to be the first device on the market with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 (referred to as Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in some sources) processor. Following the Xiaomi 16, this chip, according to insiders, will get OnePlus 15, which is expected to be unveiled next month.
A focus on autonomy
The main upgrade will be the battery: 7000 mAh, which is significantly higher than most current flagships.Supported:
- 100W of wired charging (previously — 90W),
- 50 watts of wireless charging
In addition, the device should be rated to protect IP69 against water and dust — this rating is more common for rugged smartphones, not slim flagships.
Cameras without drastic changes
The Xiaomi 16 PhotoBlock will retain the configuration of three modules at 50MP:
- The Omnivision 50MP main sensor
- a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera,
- the Samsung JN5 50MP telephoto lens
So we’re not talking about a revolution, but a point-and-shoot refinement of the camera.
Display and Design
The device will get 6.3-inch OLED screen, slightly smaller in diagonal than its predecessor (6.32 inches). The body design will be freshened up with more rounded corners.
Competitors and prospects
With a powerful battery, faster charging and enhanced protection, the Xiaomi 16 will be able to compete with theiPhone 17, Galaxy S25 and other 2025 flagships. The presentation is expected to take place later this month.
