It’s rumored that Apple will finally release its first foldable smartphone next year, tentatively dubbed the iPhone Fold for now.

According to analyst Jeff Poo, known for his reliable Apple predictions, the new product’s body will be made of a combination of titanium and aluminum. This is curious, as the company has previously abandoned stainless steel in favor of titanium, and in the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models, it’s back to aluminum — the metal that started the iPhone story.

Another prominent insider, Ming-Chi Kuo, previously claimed that the iPhone Fold’s body will be made entirely of titanium, and that the hinge mechanism will combine titanium and aluminum. It’s possible that one source got the details wrong, or that Apple changed the design during development.

The foldable iPhone is expected to get a 5.5-inch external screen and a 7.8-inch main flexible display. According to insiders, there won’t be Face ID in the device — it will be replaced by Touch ID.

Specifically for this model, Apple plans to update iOS 27 with new features and interface solutions tailored to the foldable screen form factor.

If the rumors are confirmed, 2026 could be the start of a new era for the iPhone &#8212 a transition to foldable devices, where traditional design will give way to flexibility and a new interaction experience.
