Tecno unveils Camon 50 and Camon 50 Pro ahead of schedule
The Tecno Camon 50 series, originally set to debut at MWC next month, has been officially launched early in several African markets. The lineup includes the Camon 50 and Camon 50 Pro models, both sharing similar specs, though the Pro stands out with a curved display and a telephoto lens featuring 3x optical zoom.
The Camon 50 Pro sports a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED screen with a Full HD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. Embedded in the display are a 32-megapixel front camera and an optical fingerprint scanner. The standard Camon 50 matches the resolution, selfie camera, and under-display fingerprint sensor but opts for a flat panel instead of the curved one.

Both phones run on MediaTek’s Helio G200 Ultimate chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
The main camera on both devices is a 50MP shooter with optical image stabilization, featuring a Sony LYT700C sensor sized 1/1.56″, and an equivalent focal length of 23mm. They also include an 8MP ultra-wide camera with a 14mm field of view and an f/2.2 aperture. Exclusive to the Camon 50 Pro is an additional 50MP telephoto lens offering 70mm equivalent focal length and 3x optical zoom.

The smartphones run HiOS 16 based on Android 16 and come loaded with Tecno’s proprietary suite of AI features. Powering both is a 6,150mAh battery with support for 45W wired fast charging. In terms of durability, the phones boast IP69K, IP69, and IP68 rated protection.
The Tecno Camon 50 series is available in Moonlight Black, Malachite Green, Nebula Titanium, Fir Green, Lavender Mist, and Mint Cream colorways. The Camon 50 Pro also adds an exclusive Ethereal Blue option.

Pricing starts at 37,500 Kenyan shillings (around $290) for the Tecno Camon 50, while the Camon 50 Pro begins at 44,000 shillings (about $341). Both are already available through online retailers in Kenya.
