Nothing smartphones got the long-awaited Circle to Search feature

The tool was one of the most useful Android innovations, initially available on some Pixel devices and Galaxy flagships. Eight months later, the company expanded the support to Xiaomi, Oppo, Motorola and other devices. They’ve now been joined by Nothing smartphones, which got the feature with the latest Nothing OS update.

Nothing has officially announced to the community that Circle to Search is now available for the Phone 2, Phone 2a and Phone 2a Plus models running Nothing OS 3.0, based on Android 15. The feature became available after an additional testing phase and was added after the release of the stable version of the OS.

- To activate Circle to Search, users need to go to: Settings > Special Features > Gestures > Navigation Mode > Circle to Search.
- If the setting is missing, Nothing recommends restarting the device and trying again. The feature is compatible with both gesture navigation and three-button control.
In addition, Circle to Search will appear on other Nothing devices, including the Phone 2a sold in Japan, and likely on CMF Phone 1 once it’s updated to a stable version of Android 15.

Circle to Search greatly simplifies the process of searching for information. You can select an item of interest on the screen, such as an image, text, or word, and instantly search for it. It’s much more convenient than copying an image and pasting it into Google Lens.
With Circle to Search, you can:

- translate text in an image;
- receive navigation instructions.
Google continues to improve Circle to Search, adding new features such as search by song. There are plans to introduce a search function within videos in the future.
