The Samsung company has finalized the specifications and design for the flagship Galaxy S25 series. However, the process took longer than usual as the company considered using both Exynos and Snapdragon chips to keep costs down.

Because of low performance and low yields of producing its own Exynos processors, Samsung has decided to use the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 4 for all Galaxy S25 models – S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra. This decision was not easy for the company, as Qualcomm chips are much more expensive.

New motherboard

Samsung is banking on innovation in motherboard design for its flagships:

  • The production of motherboards for the entire Samsung Galaxy S25 series has been entrusted to FastPrint factory in Beijing.
  • This factory has previously successfully helped Samsung create the thinnest version of the foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition.

The benefits of partnering with FastPrint and Ibiden

  1. Experience and reliability: FastPrint has established itself as a reliable supplier of ultra-thin and flexible boards for Samsung’s flagship devices.
  2. Ibiden Technologies: The factory was acquired by the Japanese company Ibiden two years ago. As a result, it utilizes the most advanced PCB board manufacturing technology using flip-chip and BGA (Ball Grid Array) to create high value-added boards.

Interesting Galaxy S25 development details

  • The internal development project for the Samsung Galaxy S25 series has been codenamed Paradigm Project. In comparison, the Galaxy S24 series was developed under the name Eureka.
  • With the innovative motherboards, Samsung expects to create devices that are thinner, lighter and more efficient than their predecessors.

Conclusion

Samsung’s decision to ditch Exynos in favor of Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 4 and partner with FastPrint shows a strategic bet on reliability and performance for the Galaxy S25. While using a Chinese factory to produce flagships is ironic in the face of stiff competition from Chinese brands, the technological advantages of FastPrint and Ibiden provide Samsung with the quality and innovation it needs.

Official announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra is expected in 2025.
