The iPhone 17e will get an updated camera
According to analyst Jeff Poo, the upcoming iPhone 17e will get an updated front-facing camera. We’re talking about the same 18-megapixel selfie camera used in the entire iPhone 17 lineup.
This camera was first introduced in the iPhone 17 series, so it’s unusual that Apple would be so quick to bring it to the most affordable smartphone in the lineup — a move that’s uncharacteristic of the company.
The new camera is based on a square sensor, allowing you to take vertical and horizontal selfies without having to rotate the smartphone.
Poo says the iPhone 17e will be released in the middle of the first quarter of 2026, which is around February.
Another key upgrade will be the A19 chip, which is also found in the regular iPhone 17. As such, the new iPhone 17e will offer two major improvements over the previous model.
