Honor Magic 8: leaked specs

Honor plans to release several new devices for the Chinese market this year. In the first half of the year, expect releases of Honor 400, Honor GT Pro, Magic V2 Flip and Honor Magic V4. But in the second half of the year, the brand is likely to unveil Honor X70, a series for the mid-range segment.

What’s known about the Honor Magic 8

According to a Digital Chat Station insider, a major brand is preparing to launch an important smartphone in October. He didn’t reveal the name directly, but the emoji used in his Weibo post hints at the Honor Magic 8.

According to the leak, the device will get a 6.59-inch OLED display with 1.5K+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. One of the key features will be the minimal thickness of the bezels – the black border (BM border) will be less than 1mm. However, it may increase slightly in the final version of the smartphone.

Design: new screen style

Honor looks to change its approach to display design. Expect a flat panel with a larger radius of rounded corners (a so-called «large R-corner»). This will give the device a softer and visually smooth look, as opposed to screens with sharper corners.

A change in display size?

It’s not yet known exactly what Honor will call the model with this screen. However, there’s a chance that the company will reduce the diagonal to 6.59 inches in the Magic 8, compared to the Magic 7’s 6.78-inch screen.

It’s worth noting that the Honor Magic 7 Pro also had a 6.78-inch display. Other brands (Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi) traditionally equip standard versions of flagships with smaller screens, and Pro models with larger panels. If Honor decides to follow this strategy, the Magic 8 Pro could keep the larger diagonal, while the regular Magic 8 will get a compact 6.59-inch screen.

When to expect an official announcement?

At the moment, this information is based on leaks and speculation. To get confirmed details about the Honor Magic 8 lineup, we’ll have to wait for further reports. However, if Honor is indeed following a traditional schedule, an official announcement in October 2025 seems highly likely.
