Three operators from the “Big Four” – Megafon, Beeline and Tele2 – will soon abolish charges for giving away Internet from subscribers’ cell phones.
“In September 2023, the agency issued warnings to the “big four” mobile operators to cancel fees for giving away internet traffic from mobile devices. As a result, three of the four operators reported their readiness to fulfill it,” the FAS said.
Megafon has canceled Internet traffic giveaway fees on all tariff plans as of October 23, but there may be some technical glitches during the month due to the cancellation of the giveaway function billing. Tele2 will cancel the fee for new subscribers from November 22, for existing customers — from December 19, and Beeline — until December 1, 2023.

“MTS has notified FAS that its actions in charging for Internet traffic distribution do not infringe on subscribers’ interests,” the service said in an official statement.

A case of violation of antimonopoly legislation may be initiated against MTS for failure to comply with the FAS requirements, within the framework of which the company may be held administratively liable under Article 14.31 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation and fined from 300,000 to 1 million rubles.
