CNewsMarket experts have presented a fresh rating of Russian operating systems, evaluating them according to a number of criteria, such as universality, infrastructure development, security, user support and the possibility of introductory use. The goal of the study is to determine which of the domestic operating systems are already capable of fully replacing their foreign counterparts.
According to analysts, most leading developers started creating their products before the surge of interest in import substitution. Nowadays, Russian operating systems are implemented not only because of the requirements of regulatory bodies, but also due to their compliance with the quality and security standards set by business. More and more organizations are consciously choosing domestic developments.
The main criteria for comparison were support for different processor architectures and device types, availability of compatible software, compliance with security requirements, level of technical assistance, and availability of educational materials. Special attention was paid to compatibility with Russian hardware and programs included in the register of domestic software.
Astra Linux from Astra Group became the leader, receiving the highest marks in the field of security and the number of compatible solutions. The second place was taken by Alt OS from Bazalt SPO: this system even supports RISC-V architecture and demonstrates the largest number of confirmed software compatibility. The third position is occupied by Red OS from Red Soft, which stands out for its support of a wide range of Russian devices and an extensive network of training centers.
