“In order to create the most comfortable conditions of mobile Internet consumption for subscribers, MTS cancels the fee for traffic distribution from smartphones to other devices on tariffs with prepaid Internet packages,” the telecom operator told the media.
MTS clarified that due to “technical peculiarities of the giveaway implementation” it “may take some time” to cancel the fee for Internet traffic giveaways.
Earlier, the FAS reported that MegaFon, Beeline and Tele2 will stop charging for giving away internet traffic. It was reported that Beeline will take until December to resolve technical issues, Tele2 will cancel the fee for new subscribers from November 22, and for existing subscribers – from December 19. Megafon canceled the fee on all tariff plans from October 23.
But MTS was notified by FAS that the company’s actions did not infringe on subscribers’ interests. Later, the company said that other tariffs are available for laptops and computers that consume more traffic. MTS noted that equalizing the cost of traffic for all categories of devices would lead to higher prices on all tariffs.
