Counterpoint Research estimates that shipments of mobile chips capable of performing generative artificial intelligence tasks are expected to grow significantly next year. They predict that by 2025, the share of such processors will reach 35% of the total market, a 74% increase over the current year.

GenAI refers to algorithms that process text, graphics, audio and video information. The new generation of processors allows these operations to be performed directly on the device, without the need for cloud computing. According to analysts, Apple will take the lead in this segment with a 46% share. Next are Qualcomm with 35% and MediaTek with 12%. Almost all premium processors released this year (88%) will be compatible with GenAI, which is 53% more than in 2024. This includes cutting-edge chips like the Apple A19 Pro, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, and MediaTek Dimensity 9500.

It’s important to note that support for generative AI is no longer only available in flagship models. The market for smartphones in the mid-price segment between $300 and $499 (RUB 24,450 to RUB 40,670) is growing rapidly, three times faster than last year. It is expected to account for 38% of all shipments of gadgets with GenAI processors in 2025.

Snapdragon 7-series, 6-series, and Dimensity 8000 processors account for the major share in this segment. Qualcomm remains the leader in this segment, controlling 57% of the market.
