MediaTek unveiled Helio G100 processor for low-cost smartphones

MediaTek’s family of mobile platforms has been expanded with a new Helio G100 model designed for budget smartphones. The main feature of this SoC is support for high-resolution cameras. Immediately after the announcement, the company presented the full specifications of the chip.

The MediaTek Helio G100 architecture includes an eight-core processor consisting of two powerful Cortex-A76 cores (clocked at 2.2 GHz) and six power-efficient Cortex-A55 cores (clocked at 2.0 GHz). The processor supports LPDDR4X standard RAM and UFS 2.2.

Supported by UFS 2.2 storage.

In addition, the new product is compatible with displays with resolutions up to 2520×1080 pixels and 200-megapixel cameras, providing video recording at 30 frames per second. It’s also claimed to support VoLTE technology and Elevator Mode, which allows you to quickly reconnect to a mobile network after leaving an area without coverage.

The device is also said to support VoLTE and Elevator Mode.

The first smartphone using Helio G100 is the TECNO Camon 30S Pro. More devices based on this new product will hit the market in the near future.
