WolfEye Studios, an indie developer made up of former Arkane Studios veterans, unveiled its next game on Thursday.
Studio president and co-founder Rafael Colantonio, who helped found Arkane, wrote earlier this week that the game would appeal to fans of Dishonored and Prey, and judging by the screenshots, it does. The robots and machines in the images look grim and clunky, with repulsive humanoid features that are very reminiscent of Fallout’s «Atomic Age» aesthetic.

Colantonio spoke about the vision for the unnamed game in interviews with various publications along with WolfEye’s other co-founder Julien Roby. Speaking to Eurogamer, Colantonio said: «If there is such a thing as a continuum between Fallout and Dishonored, I would say Prey is somewhere in the middle, because it’s already more RPG than Dishonored, and this new game is closer to Fallout as far as RPGs are concerned».
Prey is somewhere in the middle, because it’s already more RPG than Dishonored, and this new game is closer to Fallout as far as RPGs are concerned.
Colantonio and Roby haven’t revealed many details, but some things are already known about the game. It will be a first-person role-playing game set in an alternate 1900s America — specifically, somewhere in the Old West. Most importantly, it will be an immersive simulator, so players will be able to approach objectives in different ways — a genre that Arkane has mastered over the course of several games, such as the Dishonored series and Prey.
According to the developers, the game has officially moved out of pre-production and is now in full production while a publisher is sought. While we won’t learn more details until next year, players can sign up on the studio’s website to get into the closed alpha test, which is scheduled for 2025.

Colantonio co-founded Arkane Studios and worked there for 18 years, serving as creative director on many of its most iconic games, such as the Dishonored series and Prey. Roby has been at Arkane Studios for 11 years, most recently working on Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Mafia 3 at 2K. His first game was the third-person isometric game Weird West in 2022, which also featured a vibrant art style and immersive simulation qualities.

WolfEye is made up of many former Arkane developers, including some who were hired after Arkane Austin was shut down by Microsoft earlier this year. The new game won’t exactly be a new immersive Arkane simulation, but it’s close enough to it to appease those who mourned the studio’s loss after the failure of Redfall.
