TomTom has introduced Tom, a compact gadget that helps drivers navigate the road without a screen.
How the device works
Tom attaches to the front of your car on a magnetic holder and activates automatically when you start driving. The device works in the background and is only activated when there are events on the route.
- Cameras are fixed in blue color;
- traffic jams are marked in red;
- Traffic accidents are marked in yellow;
- Speeding – orange;
The alerts are accompanied by a short beep. This approach keeps the driver’s attention focused on the road and not overloaded with unnecessary information.

Display-less device
Doing away with the display is a fundamental decision by TomTom. Tom communicates with your smartphone via Bluetooth and works through a new free app for Android and iOS. It processes the data and sends only key information to the driver in real time.
The driver can also input up-to-date traffic data such as cameras, speed limit signs, traffic jams and accidents. There are buttons on Tom’s body that can be pressed in a variety of ways. The information is synchronized and displayed to other TomTom users.

Price and availability
The cost of the gadget is about 80 euros, which corresponds to about 7,700 rubles at the current exchange rate.
