Electric wheelchair that allows standing is unveiled – Kim-e

Chronus Robotics has unveiled the innovative Kim-e two-wheeled self-balancing electric-powered stroller. However, this device offers much more than just a traditional stroller.
One of the features of the Kim-e is the ability for the user to assume an almost completely upright position, which in turn allows them to overcome many physical and psychological obstacles.
Some of the features of the Kim-e include the ability for the user to assume an almost completely upright position, which in turn allows them to overcome many physical and psychological obstacles.
Of course, Kim-e can also be used in a normal sitting position. However, when needed, a special scissor-type drive mechanism is activated that raises the seat and tilts it slightly forward. In this way, the user is raised enough to be at the same level as the surrounding people. It should be noted that there is no risk of falling, thanks to comfortable hip belts that securely fix the body. The lifting mechanism is controlled solely by body movements and the arms remain free.
This wheelchair is capable of overcoming obstacles up to 5 cm high with standard tires or up to 7 cm with the off-road kit. What’s more, the Kim-e can easily handle gradients of up to 20 degrees, thanks to the built-in shock absorber for a smooth ride.
