OM Digital Solutions, the rights holder of the Olympus brand of photographic equipment, has released the E-M1 Mark III, a digital camera designed specifically for astrophotography. In addition to its standard features and specialized optics, the device stands out for its affordable price.

Factually, it’s an improved version of the Olympus E-M5 Mark III, complete with a new lens. This lens features an IR filter that allows you to capture the color tones of astronomical objects normally indistinguishable to the human eye, such as nebulae.

The camera features auto focus on stars to sharpen images and a 50-megapixel mode for shooting with a tripod at slow shutter speeds.

The new model is already available to buy in the UK, priced from £1,899 (approx. RUB 208,300).

Two additional filters were also unveiled: the BMF-LPC01, designed to remove light pollution (such as city lights), and the BMF-SE01, which creates a background blur effect to improve the contrast of stars in images. They are priced at €297 and €205 (28,400 and 19,600 rubles) in Europe, respectively.
