IKEA unveiled new designer wireless speakers Solskydd and Kulglass
IKEA has launched an unusual line of audio products that are designed not only to play music, but also for interior decoration. The new wireless speakers are the result of the brand’s collaboration with Swedish designer Tekla Evelina Severin. The main idea — to combine high-quality sound with bright, unconventional design.
The Solskydd (Swedish for — «sun protection») lineup comes in three models: 8, 11 and 18 inches in diameter. They are available in three colors. The audio drivers are hidden under a fabric mesh, making the design more premium. The most compact model has a single driver, while larger versions have separate tweeters and subwoofers.

The second product — IKEA’s Kulglass wireless speaker, which looks like a lamp. It is in bright fluorescent colors and the designer was inspired by the shape of a swirled ice cream. According to Tekla Severin, she wanted to create a shape that looks warm and understandable despite the device’s technically complex stuffing. Inside, there is a 1-inch tweeter and a 3.5-inch subwoofer. The model can be used as a regular lamp and has a standard bulb socket.
The Solskydd lineup ranges in price from $99.99 to $139.99. The Kulglass model sells for $129.99.
