Casio prepares limited edition G-SHOCK MRG-B2000KT-3A watch in samurai style

Casio will release a new limited edition G-SHOCK MRG-B2000KT-3A inspired by Japanese weaponry. The watch is designed in the spirit of samurai swords and is hand-engraved with an engraved phoenix. The edition will be limited to just 800 pieces worldwide.
Samurai aesthetic and handcrafted
The design of the MRG-B2000KT-3A refers to the kurugane-tsuba — a sword guard that protected the warrior’s hand and over time evolved into an artistic element. The bezel of the watch is decorated with a phoenix created by master craftsman Masao Kobayashi using the shishiai-bori technique. This traditional high-relief engraving method incorporates forging, carving and toning, making each piece unique.
The phoenix Hōōō in Japanese mythology symbolizes peace, prosperity and wisdom. The theme of the bird is reflected in the design of the dial and the decorative elements of the box.

Design and materials
The case and bezel are made of Ti64 titanium, recrystallized for durability and scratch resistance. The surface is coated with a bronze DLC layer with a rough geometric texture. Size — 54.7 × 49.8 × 16.9 mm, weight — approx. 138 g.
The strap is made of fluorocarbon rubber, which is wear-resistant and water-resistant. The dial is covered by a sapphire crystal with a double-sided anti-reflective coating. All metal elements — crown, pushpieces and buckle — are also DLC-coated.

Water resistance is claimed up to 200 meters, and the model meets G-SHOCK standards for shock resistance and protection against magnetic fields.
Functionality
The Casio 5625 with Tough Solar, Bluetooth and Multiband 6 radio synchronization is installed inside. The watch supports dual time, a 27-zone world timer, stopwatch and timer up to 24 hours, alarm and automatic calendar up to 2099. There’s Super Illuminator backlighting, Smart Access and hand position correction.
With a full charge, the battery lasts about five months without recharging, or up to 26 months in power-saving mode. Power accuracy — ±15 seconds per month without synchronization.

Release date and price
Casio has traditionally released limited-edition MR-Gs with an emphasis on Japanese craftsmanship: the MRG-B2000BG-3A and MRG-B2000RG-3A models sold for $3300, while the exclusive MRGB2000JS1A cost $8000. The new MRG-B2000KT-3A is estimated to cost more than $5000.
Premiere is expected before the end of the year. All 800 pieces will be numbered and feature a unique bezel, making it one of the rarest and most collectible G-SHOCKs in history.
