Zelda movie director promises to be ‘ambitious’

In case you somehow missed it, Nintendo announced last year that it was working on a movie based on «The Legend of Zelda». The film’s director, Wes Ball, who is currently promoting his new release «Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes», was asked a variety of questions about Link’s big-screen release during a recent conversation on Reddit «Ask Me Anything».

While he didn’t go into detail about what exactly to expect, he did mention that some lessons will be taken from his current project. Wes Ball: I know I’m going to get a ton of questions about Zelda. Sorry to disappoint, but I can’t say anything about it yet… I’ll just say that I love Zelda and will try my best to do something great for us.

UB: Don’t put money on the screen. Be ambitious. Be confident in the talent of the people around you. Try to do something great.

UB: Of course. You learn something in every movie you do. I learned a lot of things in this movie.

In addition to Wes Ball’s involvement, Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto is working on the movie with producer Avi Arad, and Sony is co-financing the project. Ball has previously said he wants to «fulfill people’s greatest desires».
