legendary actor John Malkovich (“Burn After Reading,” “Cheaters”) has joined the cast of the new Apple TV+ series “Prodigies.” The seven-episode project also includes Ayo Edebiri (“The Bear,” “Puzzle 2”), who serves not only as the lead actress but also as a producer.

Ayo Edebiri (“The Bear,” “Puzzle 2”) has joined the cast of the new Apple TV+ series.

What the show is about

Apple announced “Prodigies” in April. Will Sharp (“White Lotus,” “A Real Pain”) wrote and co-starred in one of the roles.

As Apple describes it, it’s an unusual interpretation of the classic romantic comedy that explores the complexities of long-term relationships. The main characters are Didi (Edebiri) and Wren (Sharp), former young prodigies who have been dating since childhood. In their early 30s, they begin to question whether their ordinary lives have lived up to the high expectations of their glittering past, and ask the same questions about their relationship.

The plot raises the misconception that the story ends when the characters get together. In fact, as the authors point out, that’s when it’s just beginning.

Who else is in the cast

Besides Malkovich, the series will star Tobias Menzies (“F1: The Movie”), Sofia Di Martino (“Loki”) and Andren Ward-Hammond (“Your Honor”). A premiere date for “Prodigies” has not yet been announced.

Apple TV+ is available by subscription for $9.99 a month and includes hits like “Ted Lasso,” “Split,” “The Studio,” “The Morning Show,” “Therapy” and “Silo.” Not all movies and series are available in Russia. New content on Apple TV+ doesn’t get a Russian translation.
