First look at a real Snapdragon X laptop

Laptops with Snapdragon X Elite won’t arrive until summer at the earliest, but the leaks have already begun.

Snapdragon X Elite laptops won’t be available until the summer, but the leaks have already started.

We’ve been hearing about Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite and laptops based on it for months now, but we haven’t seen anything concrete in terms of actual hardware yet. That’s because many of these devices will be unveiled at an event in May, but if you just can’t wait, the leaks are starting to come in.

The leaks are starting to come in.

Lenovo will be one of the first companies to release a device with Qualcomm’s latest Arm processor family. Thanks to X (former Twitter) user WalkingCat, we know what one of these laptops looks like. It’s the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 14 Snapdragon Edition laptop, and we can see it from almost every angle.

It’s fanless and very thin

Not much can be inferred from the images above, which don’t reveal anything about the specifications other than the fact that it appears that the laptop will feature a 14.5-inch display. However, the images do reveal some interesting information. For starters, as you’d probably expect, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 14 Snapdragon Edition will appear to be completely fanless, as there are no vents on either side of the laptop shown in the images.

We can also see that the laptop is very thin and has no ports other than the three USB Type-C inputs, which are as wide as the laptop itself allows. Both of these are benefits we’ve come to expect from Arm-based laptops, which run much cooler than typical x86-based machines, eliminating the need for fans that would otherwise add a lot of unnecessary bulk.

We also see that the laptop is very slim, and that it’s very slim.

Other features we see include the Copilot key on the keyboard, which suggests this will be an AI laptop, Lenovo’s usual «communication panel» for the webcam at the top, and new branding with the Lenovo logo in the center of the lid rather than in the corner. That design may not be finalized, though.

The design may not be finalized.

It’s also interesting to note the wallpaper on this laptop, which is a colorful version of the original Windows 11 Bloom background. The colors here are very similar to the Microsoft Copilot logo, though to be fair, it’s basically all the colors you’d see in the usual rainbow effect.

More premium Arm laptops are coming

Another thing this leak hints at — is that we’ll see more premium laptops with Qualcomm processors this year. Lenovo’s Yoga Slim series — isn’t the company’s richest lineup, but it is one of the most premium models, unlike some of Lenovo’s previous Arm-based laptops, which belonged to the IdeaPad series. Last year we had the ThinkPad X13s with Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3, but it’s the closest we’ve seen to a premium Windows consumer laptop on Arm.

And Lenovo — just one of the players to consider. Microsoft will release the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 exclusively with Snapdragon processors, and other brands will join the fray as well. It’s only a matter of time before we learn more about all of these devices. Remember, the big hardware event is scheduled for May 20, just before Microsoft Build begins.
