Japanese brand VAIO has launched SX14-R and Pro PK-R laptops with Intel Core Ultra processors

VAIO has unveiled its new VAIO SX14-R and VAIO Pro PK-R notebooks featuring Intel Core Ultra processors built on the Meteor Lake architecture. While these devices utilize the previous generation of processors (Meteor Lake instead of Lunar Lake), they offer powerful performance and thoughtful design for a diverse group of users.

This consumer-oriented notebook is powered by Intel Core Ultra 5 125H or Core Ultra 7 155H processors. LPDDR5x RAM capacity ranges from 16GB to 64GB (memory is soldered), and SSD storage capacity ranges from 256GB to 2TB (PCIe 4.0 NVMe), with user-swappable disk. The 14-inch screen is available in two versions: with a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels (non-touch) or 2560×1600 pixels (touch), both with an anti-reflective coating.

VAIO Pro PK-R

Built for business users, the Pro PK-R offers a wide range of Core Ultra processors, including economical 125U, 135U and 165U models. Some configurations support a touchscreen with an active stylus, suitable for creative and professional work. The screen can be folded horizontally, but it does not swivel fully into tablet mode.

General Features

The two laptops weigh less than a kilogram for portability and high performance. Thunderbolt 4, HDMI, and Ethernet are available for connectivity. Both laptops support WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, while the SX14-R additionally features WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.

Audio and Security

The laptops feature an advanced microphone system that provides high quality audio on calls. The VAIO Conversation software lets you select 360, 90 or 40-degree audio capture modes. The Whisper mode amplifies quiet voices, which is useful for conversations in quiet rooms. There are also front-facing stereo speakers, a 9.2 MP HDR camera (optional) with Windows Hello support, and User Sensing technology to automatically lock the screen and alert you to potential privacy risks.

The VAIO SX14-R and VAIO Pro PK-R are currently available only in Japan. The SX14-R starts at 259,800 yen (~$1,698) and the Pro PK-R starts at 304,200 yen (~$1,988).
